From the technical universities, IIT Kharagpur leads the rankings. This university published approximately 1,400 articles in leading scientific journals, 90 patents obtained, and received research funding contracts worth € 140 million.
But there are many universities that have little or no research output to report. If we keep the seven IIT’s and private institutes such as IIT’s Birla out of account, the number of publications and patents is very low in comparison to international standards, just like the revenue generated from contracts.
